Kirsty is a contemporary Australian artist living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Having grown up in rural New South Wales she has an affinity with vast open spaces – both landscapes and seascapes.
A respect and love for the natural world are key undertones to her work. Space, light, and an Australian palette are common elements. “Space and isolation impart a sense of freedom for me, while reminding us we are a small part of this earth.”
Light sets the mood of Kirsty’s paintings which can range from nostalgic and calm to wild and dramatic. Her figurative work is expressive, referencing the image with a passionate response to the subject, light and weather of the day. Her work is infused with memory and the inherent beauty of nature. While not attempting to champion any cause, Kirsty’s art advocates for the preservation of nature.
Emotion, depth and energy are built into her work utilising layers of acrylic colour and textured paint applied with brush, palette knife and glazes.
Kirsty holds an Advanced Diploma of Design and frequently undertakes courses in drawing and painting. Her work is exhibited in group shows and solos and in regional galleries in NSW. Her artwork is held by collectors in Australia and overseas.
